Doesn't seem like a long time
I tell you what-It's not to you
But you'll understand
By the end of this rhyme

He batted .435 his senior year
& .425 as a jr.
His parents had to put up a cyclone fence
Just to fend off all the recruiters

He was leaving for college
Destined for big things
California Berkeley his choice
Unfortunately
He never got to fullfill his lifelong dreams

2 days before summer ball was slated to start
He was headed home & took his normal shortcut through the park

Darker than the lights off
It usually was
Tonight it was different
There was a eerie little buzz

The smell of the embers
The bright flames
Is this a dream?
Before he could answer
He heard that faint distant scream

The house was engulfed
3 year old hailey was trapped
He went into that inferno &
He would never come back

Hailey just turned 6
She's in 1st grade
& she is doing fine

Like i said earlier 3 years & 6 months may not seem like a long time
But it feels like forever
Since I lost my son
In his prime

to write this.losing a loved one you lose a part of yourself. Understand the need to let everyone know how precious and fragile life is. I thank my lord for the ressurection..

OMG! This is tragic, I agree, it takes courage to share this much of your heart.

The verse is well written, I am so so sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine this sort of pain.

giving you a long distance hug.

Michelle
