Cash in My Cache

I once took a part-time job
as a grocery clerk at Albertsons.
I worked there for about eight months
and earned about six thousand.
I still have that much left today.
I’ve been keeping it in a safe hiding place.
I’m not saving it for myself or anyone else.
I’m saving it for my good-hearted parents
for the tons and tons of money they’ve spent
on my food, clothes, toys, and education.
I can’t fully repay them with just my six thousand.
From the total debt I owe, it’s only a small fraction.
I know I have a really long way to go.
At least it’s the first big step towards my goal.
If I can just start working again,
that will be a blessing to my soul!
If the cash in my cache becomes lost or stolen,
I will become heartbroken.

Like it and the sentiments too. Being appreciative of your parents is very noble, honorable, and loving. |
