Wings laced with poison,
Deadly beauty veiled by color,
A gentle, but lethal caress.

Wicked butterfly,
Cause of my distress,
Do not taunt my dreams
With your promise of death’s kiss.

Wicked, deadly butterfly,
Fly swiftly with the wind,
Take your haunting memories
Onto another's day and end.

Wicked, fiendish butterfly,
You’ve dealt me enough blows,
Halt your arcane torture,
Release my weeping soul.

Wicked, foulest butterfly,
These tears you cause are mine,
The tears that taint your blossom are blood,
My soul fading with time -

Vanishing with the lies...
Fleeting on the wings of deceit;
Trailing on the wings,
Of the wicked, wicked butterfly... [comments] => 6 [counter] => 148 [topic] => 39 [informant] => ravenblack_phoenix [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

when i read this, the image of someone you love but shouldn't comes to mind - but i really can't say. this is beautiful though and clearly a well developed metaphor. the language is pretty and visual but there are darker undertones. great write, perhaps you might like to read my poem 'bulimic butterfly', its similar!
