I need help, I can’t breath,
But what can I do
To escape this pain that burns like fire?

Every thought, every deed
Brings on torment anew,
My stress it is dire.

My body can run,
But my mind, it must stay,
A prison of thought does conspire.

So my days must be done,
As I can’t get away
From this cell in my head made of fire.

And try as I might,
To escape this lament,
Through thought, action, or word.

There is no chance of flight,
For gone is strength,
Pierced by my very own sword.

So I burn and I cry,
Awaiting to die,
For death must be coming my way.

But still I must try
To find out why,
Things get worse, and worse, each day.

But my tears I can’t heed,
And my screams I ignore,
As I watch my despair grow.

This once dormant seed
Has bloomed to a roar,
Of my angst, my pain, my sorrow.

But what can I do,
But plead with my sanity
To come back from the brink of despair.

Then my scream breaks anew,
As I finally see,
That my sanity is no longer there.

Am I crying again?
By now I can’t tell,
My perspective is warped and soiled.

Am I here there or then?
Or just drowned in a well,
Of the black tears that I’ve cried.

Is it night or day?
In this world, I don’t know,
As I no longer believe my own eyes.

And anyway,
I have sank so low
That I can’t see the truth for the lies.

So I continue to sink,
In this well of my tears,
And I drown in my own sea of sorrow.

Yet I continue to think,
That my pains’ ending nears,
And the sun will rise on me tomorrow.

Luke,
you captured my full attention with this verse.
The meter and flow super. It is well written, though I am sorry for the pain, the ending is what it is all about! We can be down but we have to get back up and get going once more.

May there be a huge bright sun to shine upon you come the morn!

Michelle
