Once Upon A Time

Topic: poets

Once Upon A Time

There once was a day
Everyone wanted to hear what I had to say
People would read each write many times
It seemed just because of the name I would sign

My fan club was so large
You could not fit them all on a barge
My writes were looked upon as a step above the rest
Ones admired by those I myself had considered to be among the best

Today that has all changed
Fan clubs have been re-arranged
I am down to one who feels the way they had
Everyone else just looks and says “Eh’, Not Bad”

No longer can I stand on my soapbox and preach
Everyone has left; they are no ears listening to reach
So goes the story of the has been that once was a poet
New writers had turned the page on me before I had known it

YOU have GOT to be kidding!! A "has been"?? No way!!!
Sure, some of the older members have disappeared and you may think that people don't want to hear you, but you are wrong.
Don't ever stop 'preaching'
Your number One Fan...and Friend...who will always want to read what you have to say...
Hugs
Jenni

It's funny you wrote this poem; I have been feeling like I had been getting fewer reads lately. I thought it reflected my decline as a writer. In fact I was going to post one titled
"Unpopular" reflecting how I about have been feeling with my writing lately. I think your poetry is great! I am a fairly new member, but I know quality when I read it, and you are a great poet! I look forward to reading more of your poetry soon!

hello there!
first, if your message is really that people no longer read your poems, I say re-consider...
and actually one should not write for people, because it's the one inside you who is writing, and that one doesn't need people's jeering or criticism. I believe you should go on writing even if there won't be anyone to read it. writings are from the soul and should affect the soul too.
P.S: look for some grammatical mistakes and correct them.
Keep up! buddy
