Strange tigers roam here

and the sky is a cauldron

a swirling dusk of sunset

and leaning trees in sad blue

the city streets are dirt here

every tv an antique

brown people sweating

with hats and confusions grin

This hammock is an island

with a sea of warm and watery beer

while the cauldron pours itself onto

the white and dirty balcony

the monkeys sit in dream gazes

just another in this swirling dusk

of cigarrettes and blue and leaning trees

just another holding on in this place....

where strange tigers roam.

You can never really tell what a poem is trying to convey, but the images built here remind me of somethings ive seen on my travels. Thanks for the poem.

doug, that first verse is genuinely stunning! What a beautifully descriptive piece.
Parts of this poem seem like a description of a sepia-toned photograph. And other
times it has the feel of a fantasy filled dream. Whatever the case, your descriptions
are impeccable. As always.

nicely done doug, as always. I always love reading your work and can't believe I somehow missed you posting this one.
