when things were fresh new and with some understanding.

The violin was only on its second tune, the crowds were young,
we gathered for a spark or rebellion with a dash of danger for the mix.

We made changes because the day was never done,
we entertained the notion of being something more then a pawn.
Blinded by the illusion of freedom we made our way heads strong minds open,
building protests the people wanted more, they could feel the chains coming on strong.

But our freedom now lies in a chalk line, a shroud covering it like a mystery.
The people watched it die leaving no room for the funeral or the pyre to burn.
We blamed a figure head for destroying our rights, but the blame only falls to us all.
Now we walk in the mundane, the droll has washed upon the shore,
the beauty of life handed to the hands of the corporation, to polish the idol their own way.

The transistor still plays the old songs, bringing tears to the eyes who remember,
jesus walks with his crooked crown, watching the wind blow around.
The clock is on the beach still waiting for the hands to grow on,
the anger in the pews and the mocking on the screen.

I have lost that touch for seeing the new, just stale bread with an amazing shelf life.
Its been a long time since i danced with the moonlight, its been a lonely long time since i sang with the sun.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
