The Final Walk

Topic: Grief

He put on his boots and began to walk,
To free himself from mindless talk,

No destination, no place to arrive,
This freedom and liberation in which he thrives,

Step by step as time slips away,
No better way to spend his dying day.

I clicked on your poem because of the author's note. I completely agree in
allowing the reader to gain their own meanings in how it pertains to them.

But this piece ... wow. There is so much emotion in so few words. I was
flooded with it, but the last line ... DAMN now that was intense!
I wasn't ready for it. (Though the title should have been a tip off, eh? :P)

Great post!

I agree with breezy about the last line but my take on it is the guy walks to take his mind off the fact he's dying. I really liked the flow though it may be short but held a huge punch
great poem
hope to read more soon
