Will this gaze over pine clad hills be prelude to second act
Or fleeting glimpse to be revisited only in memory
And old photographs that capture images but not feeling and mood ?

As free spirit I set foot on new and unfamiliar ground
Where ancient tribes carved great temples from forests long since passed
Pioneering new beginnings from the mouth of mighty oceans
On these shores I am prisoner, captured by beauty
Moth to the colours of a world where I am stranger
My time here is measured, mayfly minutes all that I exist

As dusk shrouds the land in deeper mysterious tones
Lights flicker in the distance, like oncoming torch bearing warriors of old
Palm trees in silhouette, timeless sentinels stand guarding the bay
When darkness fills out the sky, stars like light catching sequins flicker the heavens
Waves thump the shoreline, pounding heartbeat of the sea
Tomorrow in the soft sand my footprints will be erased by the lightest breeze
Everything will be as it was the day before I came, the only thing changed will be my memory [comments] => 2 [counter] => 446 [topic] => 21 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
