Searching for that feeling I lost so long ago
At a time in my life when the air was pure and the sun still knew how to set
When every breath I took wasn't filled with the despair of my yesterdays
But the wedding bells ring out like shotgun shells inside my mind
And I realize that inside this chapel there is nothing for me to find
The road I have been traveling on for so long
Is the road that leads to nowhere, except a place in which I don't belong
I've wasted so much time searching, yet the years feel just like hours
As I stood here waiting, clenching a bouquet of your favorite flowers
But you never showed up, you never came to find me
And I watched the petals fall from the stems with each passing day
Just as I felt the pieces of my heart crumble and break away
Shattered, I stood alone at the alter, humbled by my loss
Nails driven through my wrists as I nailed myself to a cross
Beside the shadow of who I used to be
A cold, fractured silhouette of me
Reflecting all the elements of life that I once could never see
But with my eyes now open wide
I see that this tragedy was merely a scratch in the mirror of my destiny
And this cross I wear on my back represents hope
As I watch the sun rise I realize that it no longer needs to set
For it lights the path of a brand new road
A road to better days and peace of mind
The path to what I have been searching so long to find
Closure to the wounds that lay open on my heart
Step by step away from the feeling that I once knew
Resting in a place so far from you...
....The hollow chapel.

This poem is filled with so many different notions...I really enjoyed this piece...it stimulates the brain. The most interesting aspect is that the "Hollow Chapel" is a person...right?
