Array ( [sid] => 149317 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The contradicting constant [time] => 2009-04-22 23:06:13 [hometext] => This one is really out of charcter for me and my preffered style but I like it anyway. I may still put it in to a rhyming scheme... who knows. Tell me what you think and if you have any ideas. Thanks [bodytext] => There is nothing on earth quite like love.
Love can change the very essence of your being.

Nothing in this world
can equal the pure ecstasy of love.
Nothing in this world
can equal the excruciating agony of love.

Love can drive a Saint
to put the knife to his fellow man.
Love can make the foulest wretch
stop and pick a flower.

Love can make you bow your head
and thank the lord for the blessings bestowed
Love will make you shake your fist at the heavens
and forsake him for the pain he has caused

Love can save your life
Love can ruin your life

Love will give you everything you ever wished for
and then rip it from your grasp in the blink of an eye

Love will leave you so broken
you will try to take your own life
and the only thing that can save you
is love

Love is hope
Love is hopeless

I really like this poem, especially how you've highlighted the contrast between the happiness of love and the pain of love. It is all very true! Great work! :o)

Good voice and message. I think this could benefit from being pared back a little, made a little sparer in its word count. Try making every word you have used mean as much as it possibly can. This is a good exercise in revision, and hey, now that you have this on paper, no amount of tinkering will spoil it as you can always ditch what you've changed and come back to this. And no, I don't feel it needs a regular rhyme scheme, but it's up to you.
