True Love Triumphs

Contributed by Lone_er on Tuesday, 14th April 2009 @ 01:57:07 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Once more love triumphs, once more displays,
True love is beautiful, in all its choices all its ways.
I set out to explore you, love you in poetry.
Knowing someday, I’d have to set you free.

I knew these days would come, days of loneliness and pain.
I knew my heart would despair; feel everything is vain.
Yet I knew also, true love never deceives nor lies,
And truly it was love, I saw within your eyes.

I saw a heart that glittered, shimmered as gold.
A heart not only daring to love, but was bold.
I saw a light, that outshone the Sun.
A light that said, "Yes I am the one!"

I saw the answer you never could allow.
Yes, I knew it then, and I know it now.
I knew love is eternal, transcending this life;
Not always its destiny to be lover or wife,

It was our destiny to meet, to become friends.
To discover such a love, it never ends.
A love that's passionate, thrilling too,
And yet benign, innocently true.

Of course I am human, and from time to time,
I imagine and write, of a love so sublime,
But the love of which I speak, of which I testify
Is far, far greater than either you or I.

It is true love, in its purest form,
Never to be tarnished, never the norm.
True love that always triumphs, as it did the day,
It looked me in the eyes and swept me away!

I saw a heart that glittered, shimmered as gold.
A heart that not only dared to love, but was bold.
I saw a spirit that outshines the Sun.
A light that said, "Yes, I am the one."

I saw the answer you never could allow.
Yes I knew it then, and I know it now.
I knew love is eternal, transcending this life;
Not only its destiny, to be husband and wife.

It was our destiny to meet, become friends.
To discover such a love, that never ends.
A love that's passionate, thrilling too,
And yet benign, innocently true.

Of course I am human, and from time to time,
I imagine and write, of a love so sublime,
But the love of which I speak, of which I testify
Is far greater, than either you or I.

It is true love, in its purest form,
Never to be tarnished, never the norm.
True love that always triumphs, as it did the day,
It looked me in the eyes and swept me away!

Russ
