Array ( [sid] => 149126 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Fragments - Final [time] => 2009-04-14 04:25:47 [hometext] => Serious critiques most welcome. I can tell if you really read it or not!! :-P [bodytext] => too late you called,
dear gentle Peace,
too late, too late, too late.

After all, we’ve already established
That Venus does not lie
As long as militant Mars
Is tromping through the sky...

...yet, only love can tell
they say.

(There!
Now I’ve penned my life away!)

* * *

Weep, Weeping Willow,
weep, weep weep!
Weep for humble shepherd
who lost all his sheep,
weep for Mystic Black Cat
who swallowed the moon,
and weep for Mary, quite contrary
who sang a different tune,
and weep, Weeping Willow, for Little Boy Blue
because of all the times that HE wept...
...for you.

* * *

Life was not lived
in parts
or even chapters,
sections,
or paragraphs,
but instead, moment
by
moment
one miserable
or glorious
step at a time

* * *

Listen, darling,
If you happen to see Paul Harvey strolling around
Could you relay a little message to him,
from me?

Just tell him that I don’t really need his help anymore...
I already found out the rest of this story,
By living it myself,
And it wasn’t quite as pretty as one might have hoped.

...but I’m sure that he already knows
exactly how THAT goes.

* * *

Never mind me, darling,
I’m just sitting up here in my tea-top-hut,
Watching the mountains grow...
...then crouch back down, pretending to be
pebble-tiny again, and really believing
that they are.

* * *

And now, after dreary grey clouds
And soggy-wormed sidewalks have proven themselves
Real enough to survive even our togetherness...
Even after all these things...
...will you love me still?

* * *

They forecasted a warm morning
But the universe sent me only rain.

They predicted an inch of snow
But the frost stopped at the heart.

They promised an early spring
But so far all I’ve seen is pain...

Now tell me, little miss frazzled and frayed,
What shall we expect tomorrow?

Gooober lilting?
Flower’s wilting?
Son-rise,
Hope-highs,
Hearts dropped torn and slain?

Well, who cares what you forecast?
The wind blows just the same... [comments] => 1 [counter] => 256 [topic] => 21 [informant] => 3660days [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 17 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Man...there's so much about this that I really enjoyed. It's disjointed and almost accusing, but I really liked it in this piece.

Weep, Weeping Willow,
weep, weep weep!
Weep for humble shepherd
who lost all his sheep,
weep for Mystic Black Cat
who swallowed the moon,
and weep for Mary, quite contrary
who sang a different tune,
and weep, Weeping Willow, for Little Boy Blue
because of all the times that HE wept...
...for you.

It's like the anti-fairy-tale. It's a bit of nose thumbing at the whole "happily aver after/life is a box of chocolates" mentality.

"hearts dropped torn and slain"

LOVED that line especially. Mine is pretty slain these days.

It's not the kind of thing that I get to read very often, so that makes it even better. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Be well,
~Loende
