Speak of days now lost to men
The world untouched and full of life
The magic of the untamed glen

The horizon spread, a daring challenge
Urging those to meet their fate
Who would seek to reach its ending
Where earth ascends to heaven’s gate

Where men eyed men ‘cross battlefields
Knowing this would be their end
Where steel bit flesh and stole life’s spark
With echoed prayers, their soul to send

When oaths were sworn and bound in truth
When glory shone from courageous acts
And honor held these codes to follow
Of chivalry which time now lacks

Cloaked in shrouds of ages past
Between the fogs of eternity
The world untamed, brimmed with wonder
And mysteries stood for all to see

Now stand we in our modern smog
The world around us meek and tamed
And through the smoke we fail to see
That in breaking, we have lamed

Quite an interesting perspective. Even though I am not sure I thoroughly agree with the last stanza I think the poem is written with an absolute wonderful finesse and I can so feel the imagery it was a thrill to read.

Take care

Tim

This was really great. Makes me long for a world without fences where one could just roam free. For some reason this made me want to watch LOTR's over again. Maybe it's
just to get a taste of those wide moutain vistas and adventure. Anyways.... wonderful writing. You've reminded of why I miss your poetry when you don't write for a whlie. Truly , Doug
