Leaving this year a permanent scar,
Not completely through nor near the end,
Things have turned for a saddened worse,
Like a puzzle broke and no fix,
The picture wrong, a chaotic finish.

Picture this, you sit with company,
Friends from old, distinctive faces.
But change did happen as it always can do,
The scene was different as were the people I once knew.
For my skin is white and their skin brown,
The past was no problem, but I noticed the frown.

Time went by, as it always seems to do,
One by one, I was then left not completely alone.
Every moment as the last moved on,
I sat alone and decided my time with these people were done.
For every day of every year,
A twenty year old friendship has become unclear.

I think you've expressed your point well here. It's a relatable subject, I'm sure most have witnessed the way relationships change and alter over time and felt all kinds of feelings about it.
I like the perspective of it, like it is a 'picture', 'scene', or 'puzzle', where you can study it as an outsider with the advantage of being an insider as well.
Well written, keep it up =]

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
