the leather seat beneath me sticks slightly to the back of my thighs,
the sun seems to shine brighter when the ac is broken,
it is drying out the ponds of water the rain formed last night in ditches

The wind brushes my face and breezes through my hair to my scalp,
the coolness blowing in my eyes make them water and shut,
my other senses heighten and I can smell a seafood market as we pass it by,
as the car rolls onto a bridge, I smell the bayou we're crossing over

The car slows down and halts at a red light and I open my eyes,
looking out the window I see the grass greener than I'd seen it in years,
I see the bright colors of the wild flowers and the trees covered with leaves,
I am now feeling better about moving, and glad that years of fall have finally ended

Interesting and moving metaphor. And now you have me longing for
scenes, smells and tastes of spring!

Your descriptions are magnificent. They are laced with a subtle nostalgia
that has me reminiscing. Wonderful post!
