by a twig.
It's thorns and splinters divide me
but I come back together as one
unified droplet of rain.

I seep deeply into a labyrinth of twigs
Finally landing somewhere soft.
It is then that I notice that this is
human hair.

I soak deeply into the strand,
coming together again at the tip
of the hairline.
I crawl down a man's face.

His eyes are drawn closed
as I fall past his tear duct,
down his cheek to his chin.
His beard smells of blood and sweat.

I drip down to his chest,
and slowly crawl down his body,
torn to shreds with abrasions
and deeply seeded cuts.

He is thin,
Very thin,
Too thin,
to be healthy.

Too long has this man spent
being malnourished,
mistreated,
and starved.

A spear rushes past me,
piercing his side,
almost disturbing my path.
Blood now joins me at my side.

I drip once more past his torso
to his knee,
and once again,
to something hard, metallic, at his feet.

Lastly, I drip to the ground,
next to a wooden post,
it is then I look up,
at the royalty before me.

This man is a king,
for the twigs that split me
upon my first landing
is the crown upon his head.

As my brothers and sisters
fall around me,
and my father rumbles his low
saddened, angry voice
I have but one question.

Given the cuts, abrasions,
broken ribs,
dislocated shoulder,
crown of twigs and thorns
and nails through his hands and feet.

...knowing all of that...

...What crime warrants a punishment this severe?

Until I am answered,
my family joins me
in a downpour of sadness,
anger,
and blood. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 264 [topic] => 11 [informant] => thepizzaguy [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ChristianPoetry )

Wow, now this was very enjoyable! I absolutely love where you went with this! It started out so simple and then you kept twisting it and twisting it to an absolute brilliant concept.

I definitely applaud this poem and you.

Take care,

Tim

Oh, and I should have said you didn't just try to create an image with this one, you did create an image with this one.
