reaching. . . not to solace.
now, I've lost all ability. . .
to kneel. . . to pray,
nay, to entreat. . .
to gracefully fade into any shade.
I am that gift
that you so sought
& now so seek to liquify. . .
to melt into eternity.
blame is a bizarre companion.
so sublte, a mercurial memory. . .
folded into the crease of time
I feel, this night,
the need to linger.
aeon dancer.
sanctity.
old & brittle.
tender. . .
. . . tender. . .
yet life, resisting,
resists my plea.
my will suffice
with innuendo
atrophies with disbelief.
life seems to be a shadow dancer,
just a sigh.
a breath away. . .
existence barely reasonable,
more or less, a ghost to me.
& you.
you seem so cold
& oh, so distant,
myriad apparition, now. . .
chronic seam of distancing.
the phantom twist of afterlife.
& in your stead,
contributing
a veil of closure,
thread to close my lunacy.
in a mist of faulty season,
strain has peeled away your anger. . .
replaced by tears & sadly. . .
endless, sad good-byes.
spoken on a breath of sorrow
creating winds of heavens' sky.
& passing. . .
passing. . .
lingers detached,
asylum of a cloudless sky
& ever. . .
ever. . . oh, so gently
between us. . . a dance
in heavens' shadowed light.
holding hands
like holding prisoners. . .
foreign.
sovereign.
holding to this precious sight.
I admire the stone you'd chosen.
at once, both circular & concise.
reminiscent curve of harmony.
it's chisled markings, blunt & cloistered.
reminder of lifes' sacrifice.
embroidered
ageless. . . stoic features
missive of my mordant freedom.
revealing loss in endless quiet.
incredulous
& sorrowful, harboring denial
in your breast. . .
you kneel to speak
but words are fragile
confidants
that find no rest
that fall & fail
& loose their stride.
their potency,
but scarred & scattered.
no way to please the thoughtful appetite.
to soothe yourself, you choose a memory.
alliance to some painful beauty
that once remembered, death denied.
you placed it 'neath the waters fall
where we'd laughed
that day & night away.
I could not match the gaze you wavered.
could not smile or look away.
& reaching. . .
reaching. . . my love abated. . .
abated. . .

So full of cryptic yet apparent analogies. And again, I say, it would most definitely be a treat to be able to hear you recite your poetry. Such a wondrous thing it 'tis!!!

Initially it was the title that caught me.
But, as I began reading it was the.... that held me. It was the structure, writing style and your energy that made me think after each ... of the true power found in writing your heart.
