This is for you, you know who you are
I know you can read this whether near or far
My words are simple, my points quite direct
I have no secrets to hide no mysteries to detect

I am quickly turning old, my hair shading gray
Yes I have lived too long, but I have a few things left to say
In conversations past we talked about why people would care
If they awoke one day to find that you were no longer there

I explained how I cared unconditionally; I thought I made it clear
There are more people like me in the world who truly regard your life as dear
To those who wish to put you down, they are blinded by defects
They have no understanding of cause and effects

They tear you down due to insecurities within their own lives
They hide behind tough appearances, that is their disguise
They are but little people pretending to be giants among men
Feeling they must have someone to blame other then them

The hands are there to help you make a stand
To guide you from quicksand to solid land
The hands will be there whenever you need a lift
As your friend, I give them unconditionally as a gift

Through many dark days I have lived my life
Surviving days like yours filled with too much strife
I will not claim to have walked a mile in your shoes
The roads I have walked contain many again I would not choose

I have been to where I thought it should be the end
There is a good life beyond that point is the message I am trying to send
If you go down a road that seems to have no light
Along that road you will find me waiting with a candle to help provide better sight
