its’ ugly head,
show me how it plans to take me.
Fast like the old man
found dead on the bathroom floor
pants down around his knees,
paper turned to the sports section.
Him probably debating
the daily double picks for that day

or maybe like Mom.
Her walking into the hospital
waiting for her deathbed six hours.
Them checking then rechecking
insurance forms.
***** that pain in her back
cancer eating her from within.
Does she have coverage
or is she a charity case.
Five days in their bed
hitting that morphine button
doesn’t come cheap.

I’m waiting for death
to burst in my stomach
blow up in my brain
make my heart scream
and stop beating.

I don’t expect it to treat me
like a friend.
Let me sleep through it.
Life has never been
that good to me. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 169 [topic] => 13 [informant] => fanniesson [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
