Array ( [sid] => 147979 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => another perfect day [time] => 2009-02-15 17:50:58 [hometext] => I submitted another poem like this a few days ago, but it was to wordy and to long, so I worked on it, and this is the result [bodytext] => What’s not to like for a country boy on a summer’s day.
8 years old and master of all he can survey.
Strolling, looking for adventure down a country lane,
surrounded by waving golden wheat on broad Kansas plain.
He meandering across the rolling prairie goes.
thru ruts with soft pools of dust, that geyser between bare toes.
Shoeless, shirtless, tasseled hair burned blonde by the sun,
looking for some cottonwood shade, and a rill meant for fun.
Bare feet in the cool water listening to the buzz of dragon flies.
Sitting in dappled light searching the shallow stream for a prize.
Vast stretches of golden sunflowers, their faces following the sun,
provide a golden road of flowers for a small boy to run.
Lightning bugs light the eve, their glow showing a tired way home,
Prairie night lulls a boy to sleep, dreaming of other fields to roam. I didn't catch the first but. . . this is a touching reminder of what simple pleasures life really
has to offer, as seen through the eyes of a young boy. I love it. peace. elle
