Array ( [sid] => 147926 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Break Free [time] => 2009-02-12 11:29:45 [hometext] => I wrote this poem on my return from a backpacking trip to India...a journey of letting go to everything that held me back ...I felt complete freedom and joy of life... [bodytext] => Break Free!
Step aside your comfort
Take a cold shower on a morning winter
Drink hot water
Jump naked into a cold lake at dawn
Walk without shoes in the snow.

Break free
Sacrifice those little fears
Set aside those daily routines
Walk on gravel barefoot
Play like kids with wooden swords
Climb trees and eat cherries
Write in a journal – stories to be found
Later on in life
When you look upon them
As your sweet memories
They are there to remind
Who you were, who you are
and who you wish to continue to become.

Break free!
Hug a tree
and appreciate its patience
The tree is a sage: observe its wisdom!
as it changes with the seasons.

Break free!
Try sing a song with foreign lyrics
Dance wild in public and feel silly
Wrestle naked with your lover
Make love to him in any place that feels a dare
Allow your sexual energies flow through
As if there is no tomorrow due
Reaching far beyond your head’s temples
Into the unknown
Waking every cell within
Where your journey of creative potential began
You feel so alive within
You can barely contain the feeling charging in.

Break free!
Try fly above the mountain peaks with the glide
Or take a trip to Italy to feed the pigeons on the side;
Or go to Greece and pay homage to the ancient Gods
Believe in a cause and fight for it till it’s solved.
Or simply play an instrument on the streets
To get some extra cash for your treats.
Or create art for your own soul
To illustrate what you wouldn’t through a different call.

Break Free!
Crack open your resistances
Those little fears keep you from attaining
You utmost potential
Allow your soul to take you places
Dream on even if you are too old to even breathe
Everything begins with a thought, a goal, with a crave –
it is what keeps us alive and fit to think
Go on and realize it
You’ve got nothing to lose
But to gain – gain the freedom of your mind
The freedom of your spirit unrestrained!

Only then you’ll have the ride of your life
And feel complete in the arms of destiny. This poem reminded me exactly of what my trip to Paraguay felt like this past summer.

I think you captured the spirit beautifully. =)
