Array ( [sid] => 147731 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => RED SKELTON [time] => 2009-01-31 20:40:24 [hometext] => He will always be loved and respected, by more than just his hometown. All the world loves a clown... [bodytext] => Taking a walk down memory lane,
Remembering the boy with the red mane,
Born to share his gift of laugh,
Money didn’t alter his “state of class,”
He had three brothers ~ And a mom,
Mom raised four boys in relative calm,
His father died before he could see,
The clown his son would grow to be,
He would have been proud seeing the fun,
Knowing it was passed ~ From father-to-son,
By fifteen he was on the road as a clown,
It was circus to circus ~ And town to town,
Young Red seem to poses an old soul,
Being blessed ~ He held to his goals,
Red was the boy who-made-it-good,
And he found his way to Hollywood,
He loved being a clown and hearing the laughter,
He loved his characters ~ And being an actor,
Clem was a bit slow ~ Freddie a bum,
But neither of them were considered dumb,
Freddie the Freeloader ~ Born of all men,
Having never met God ~ He recognized sin,
Freddie knew about love and the value of time,
That procrastination is the worlds worst crime,
He believes patriotism keeps America safe,
That giving ~ Not taking ~ Makes America great,
Believing in, his inner most clown,
Well, That’s where Red could be found,
This inner man ~ He knew how to live,
Remembering his childhood ~ Taught him to give,
He gave from the heart ~ To children in need,
They didn’t ask ~ Yet, many received,
“The favorite son” ~ Of a historical small town,
Proud to name “Red” as their beloved clown,
Proud to remember ~ This wonderful man,
Perhaps he was born poor ~ But “Poor” had a plan…
