This is about a boy you see, a story that defies logic and scale

Born when winters’ dawn did break,
The night before his grandma dreamed of white elephants and spake
‘The little one that will soon come to be...
Greatness will be achieved, for destined is he’

That was how his life began,
mixed with a little innocence...and a lot of surreality
His parents told him how life will be,
‘mixed with some patience ...and lot of more of what’s called reality’

Life’s lesson learned, he went on to pass,
Out into the world... that he’d always seen through a looking glass
Awed and overwhelmed at the size of the world he could see
There he was, a little someone... trying to be the best that he could be

Trying to fit in, but always left out,
He was different... much different, beyond the shadow of a doubt
Different... because he would never scream or shout
The only one who was always wondering, what his dreams were all about

More than most he felt those ghosts, that people called pain and agonies
He felt delight and love and life...
And heartaches that never cease

Yet no one ever did realize,
He’s different because he feels

Now he’s shrivelled and slouched and thrown about
Much like everyone that he tries to please
He spends his life conforming to lies... It’s as if the truth’s locked in a safe
And he’s lost his only set of keys

As I listened, the voices said,
‘Thus the little boy has forgotten,
What he was destined to be,
Alas Alas! He’s lost his faith In the Prophesy’

As the voices faded I heard them say
‘Once the little boy, now grown up is he’
I slowly went pale, as I turned away...
That little boy... was me
