You See Strength? I See My Battle.

You say I'm strong?
Define your strength!

Only because you'll never see
When I fall apart
Soft edges hardened
In such a short time!
You call that strength?

I'm individual and indivisible,
Because I don't cry
When you say words
You don't know what they mean?
And no meaning behind them

You call this strength -
I don't rely on the numbers
To keep me safe and alive.
You say I'm strong;
My backbone is all my own

Erase the fog from the mirror,
Steam won't cover my face again
Leaving me to face myself
The water won't cover where my hand has been
And I'm left with these mistakes

Breaking down again.
Doors locked and music drowns out my sounds
Water washes away my tears
Nobody has to see this
My shadows, I keep hidden from the light.

These walls of steel and concrete
Makes me invincible,
A barrier it takes time to break
Do you have strength to match my own?
No one has the patience for me

Stubborn and immovable -
Is this what you call strength?

a very stirring piece. never let barriers define you. . .
so long as we do what's right & hold the power of love in our hearts
others will be peaking over the walls they helped build just to see what we are doing.
& by doing right we are both an example & a blessing & this is true strength. . .
peace always. elle
