for hours on end
sharing intimate thoughts
with you, every second i'd spend
your desire for me
clearly written in those eyes
i've never known anyone
who could light up the sky
the sky within my heart
the way you constantly do
a million books of poems
could never describe my affection for you
so much we share
so much more to come
moving forward together
together as one
it's magic when we touch
it's electric when we kiss
i love that you think of me
that i'm what you miss
we set a date for the morning
picked you up by noon
hanging out together
just us two
you brought your luggage and your ticket
all that you need
and we set of together
you and me
driving in my car
talking and laughing, as we always do
this fortuitous relationship
so blessed to have you
your smile is contagious
always on my mind
so much more to tell you
but i ran out of time
for here we are
the fork in the road
you're flying to visit him
i'm driving home alone

i had a horrible feeling that there was going to be a twist to the plot somewhere, and i was right. unrequited affection is something i'm familiar with (all too familiar) and you've summed it up really well with this. terrific work.

Yikes a turn for the worst. A great write, but a horrible circumstance. I have experienced unrequited love and to tell you the truth it sucks for everyone and there is no other way to heal except time... Take care,
-Butterfly
