i'm restless in bed
lying next to her
thinking of you instead
these faceless women mean nothing
an attempt to fill this void
yet only for the evening
i still wake up annoyed
frustrated at the situation
you're with him
i'm with them
sulking in the shadows
i always pretend
that it's you next to me
your skin touching mine
and just for the moment
everything is fine
but dreams always dissipate
and i'm left with them
these one night relationships
i should never begin
altering my consciousness
every hour of every day
alcohol, drugs and women
anything, to dull this pain
so excruciatingly bitter
seeping into my soul
infecting my thoughts
taking its toll
breaking me down
more than i can bear
without you, i'm not that strong
and they just don't compare
to all you are
and all we could be
if only you were sleeping,
right here beside me

Wow! Raw emotions can create the best writing, but the most pain and grief. It really does hurt to love someone to the point where nothing can compare. Wishing you well.
Take Care,
