On the drive to forget you
A familiar face
But you aren't the one I wanted to see
Only fitting

Rage and fire - yet so sad.
Last time I saw you;
Tears in your eyes.
Only half-hidden
Or maybe i know you too well.

I can never hold on forever
Cemeteries seem like a place to be
When you're letting go.
Of everything you've ever known;
Even if I have nothing to bury.

Instead of unearthing the dirt,
I took some pictures
Then tore them all to pieces
Put the pieces with anything else I had
A box on a shelf I'll never reach
You're only a corner in my mind.

Maybe someday I'll dust the shelves
With or without you
But I'm not one for housecleaning
If you can reach that box;
We'll bring our shovels
Into the cemetery where I left you. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 213 [topic] => 52 [informant] => midnight_writer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => goodbyepoetry )

Amazing metaphorical piece! I was captivated through out this. Really well done and wonderfully poetic. A fitting metaphor for the ending of, forgetting of, and moving beyond of....love.

BRAVO!
