Blood and Bricks

Contributed by navydocny on Tuesday, 25th November 2008 @ 05:21:03 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Mortar of dirt mixed with our blood
An unkempt garden which will not bud
Bricks ground of our bones, baked by the sun
Dying tree in the yard, whose life is undone
This broken home, which only we can see
Created with abandonment, and strife by me
How long it was held, and made yet to live
When I had nothing, but pain which to give
Still it endures, and lives still to suffer
From the torment reared, from this lowly duffer
To make amends, and to cheat against fate
And win back your love, even though it’s too late
All the chances you’ve given and all of them squandered
Had I known that I had them, and change, I’ve pondered
I am worth more than that, all that has been taken
I’ll offer you my vow, that won’t be forsaken
I’ll stand by your side, and follow things through
When I am told something, I’ll only believe you
You have what you’ve sought, been here every day
One chance to let me love you, is all that I pray
