The chips are up,
But hey,
You’ve surmised I’m the equal,
Of an unformed stool,
Unnecessary-
Unpleasant-
Scraped with purpose,
A smell as loud as nausea.
But when those bastards,
Are down,
I am white blood cells,
To you,
Duty bound to save,
You.
But then again, you can always
Read my thoughts,
All I can read is your
Diary.

I am a poker player. Which is exactly why I almost did not read this. I just don't see the point in poetry about poker. Just to see if someone could convince me otherwise I came into this poem. Immediately realizing that this was simply a metaphor. Bravo you used the poker metaphor and the well known to poker players "All important chip position" to sum up a relationship. I myself have been in such relationships. And the chip position is important. So kudos to you for having the big slick and slow playing it while in position! If they play games the better hope the flop hits 'em right or they might just get found out by getting caught at the river!
I really enjoyed this!
