The sound of the world clapping, is deafening

Her hopes not subtle but meteoric

Riding a wave of expectation

Shedding her doubts, like fall leaves

Hes gathered together the disillusioned

The dispossessed and those forgotten

Calling upon a divided nation

Together we stand divided we fall

The sound of clapping has overshadowed

To long, the screams of agony

We've heard but mostly disregarded

Caught up in this national tragedy

Living with fear a tortured America

Has followed a path to tyranny

But this morning I hear the sound of clapping

I can hardly believe my ears

the world claps cause it is nieve and ignores the facts i wont say more but the entire world or entire country does not clap he barly split the popular vote

On a poetic level, it's not that bad, though rather blunt. You seem to offer vague criticisms without really supporting them logically or poetically ("this national tragedy", etc). Also, the ending ("I can hardly believe my ears") isn't really profound enough to pull off what you're trying to say.

On a proofreading level, "to" should be "too", and you're comma usage is a bit shifty.

In response to the content: Barack Obama will not be a great president. I disagree with many of his policies and find him somewhat hypocritical. That said, he will be so drastically better than McCain that I don't see how anyone could be sorry he won. Most prominent conservatives endorsed Obama because McCain proved himself so naive (Colin Powell, David Brooks, Andrew Sullivan, etc.).

Yes, I too am scared that the liberal public will not keep a close enough eye on Obama. One of the scariest things I've seen throughout this election was the audience of the Daley Show booing Bill Kristol of Fox News for saying that he would report on Obama's inevitable mistakes. Nevertheless, the world clapping for Obama is entirely appropriate and deserved, and largely genuine.

I was in Grant Park when Obama gave his acceptance speech. The passion and sheer size of the crowd was probably the most impressive thing I have ever seen. I'm sure many if not most of the people there know very little about politics and have no terribly good reason to support Obama. Nevertheless, what an Obama presidency will do for America is so much better than what a McCain presidency would have done.

It is time for a change. However pretensious or unideal that change may be, it is severely needed. It cannot be ignored, and should not be looked down upon.

I thought this was a wonderful write, I agree with you, I was hoping so bad that he would win (this was the first time I voted) and and I cried tears of joy when I saw that he had. I feel like for once this country might be all right, thank you for writing this and as to what the other two said, he isn't in office yet you have to give the man a chance.
