Where are the veterrans of today?
you all have nothing to say
they stand and fight
for our countries rights
While the rest of us fade and hide in the night
no one today will stand and fight
past veterans showed valor in past war
While they stalked up enemy shores
We're at home resting as we hear rapping on our door
There war has come here
there are soilders at my door
Saying can you not hear
get into the night
I say no I can't hear
then there was a gun right there
The barrel in my face
Making the message clear
the war has reached us
And now is the time for veterans
to stnad out in the human race
where are the veterans of today
because the number of veteran's
is slowly withering away
the war is here
the veterans where our sheild and sword
But with no veterans to fight
our sheild is cracked
our sword dull
and will lose our rights
with no one to blame but ourselves
so how do you console
for not fighting for your own freedom [comments] => 2 [counter] => 205 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Voice of the Silent [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

I got lost in the sauce....
Could be my age...
I just found this one confusing......
As a vet I do appreciate your write though. There is a level of tension that you've placed here and the reader falls right into it.....
Freedom and rights are indeed not manifest destiny and are and have been fought for and sacrificed for. You make that point well...
Good write and Thank you for sharing your homage...
Steve
