Somewhere in a darkened room
A father weeps alone.
Yesterday his world was bright,
Today, it’s a twilight zone.

Feeling lost and abandoned,
Bewildered and bereft,
Without his wife and baby
There is nothing left.

Questions unanswered
Confusion reigns,
How could anyone else
Understand his pains?

Tonight in a darkened room
A husband lies alone,
Thinking of the epitaph
He wants on his tombstone!

~~^~~

Wow, Jenni, these emotional writes are painful. You have captured his pain and emotion very well. While I cannot relate to this 100% I can relate to parts of it. It reminds me a lot of a similar situation regarding my step son.

Take care and thanks for a great poem.

Tim

Wow,
You've described the similar experience that I've been going through for the last two years. Very hurtful and well written. Describes well the confusion and despair!
Excellent!
Thank You,
Steve

Thank you all so much. I wrote this last night after hearing on the news of a baby who died right after birth and her mother followed. I heard the father talking and crying and decided to write this... Thanks again....

Thank God for the "Blessed Assurance" this man can have
of being reunited with his loved ones someday when he
crosses over the shore to the eternal side where all his
tears will be wiped away.

Beautiful poem Jenni and it is great to touch base with you again
after my long absence from writing.

Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns (AKA: Lawdog)

Man, Jenni...that was raw, but rather lovely. It caught me and gripped my heart tightly. Great write. Congrats on the new baby girl in the family.

Be well,
