Array ( [sid] => 145760 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Shaina [time] => 2008-10-18 09:50:30 [hometext] => This poem is dedicated to my best friend's daughter who is getting married on November 9, 2008. She is a sous chef and has always been a little bit ditsy, but is extremely lovable, kind and caring. [bodytext] => Shaina

Shaina, who’s my best friend’s daughter
Soon became like my own too.
And we grew to love each other
Like a mother and daughter do.

The child that I knew was a darling
But as a babe she always cried.
I think she must have known her calling
For soon her Mom was cooked and fried.

In spite of this her Mom was willing
To care for such a difficult child.
With tales of days that were quite chilling
Difficult seems descriptively mild.

Who knew that from this fussy baby
Would come a girl with a heart of gold.
Who’d transform into such a lady
But wait, her story is not quite told.

She has a smile that’s quite infectious
Lighting even the darkest of nights.
With personality so precious
Who cares at times she’s not so bright.

You gasp at words that seem so shocking
But did you know her as a child?
For I remember of her locking
My keys in my car for quite awhile.

And her Mom would often ponder
If under her brown hair was blonde.
For Shaina’s actions made her wonder
Where all her common sense had gone.

Even now our Shaina’s laughing
For she gave herself a goofy name.
But the name she’ll soon be having
Is that with which her Sweet Prince came.

And although this was to be funny
It’s true at times there were dark clouds.
But now the skies are bright and sunny
And she has done her parents proud.

For Shaina’s heart is truly humble
She’s willing to repent to God,
When she has realized she’s stumbled
On paths that she‘s not meant to trod.

Oh what a witness she’s been often
By sharing times of so much pain,
And how Jesus helped to soften
The hurts by calling on His name.

Oh, look how He has blessed her greatly
To have a true love by her side.
So listen and you might hear faintly
Brandon calling to his bride.

How fast their wedding day approaches
This fairy tale is really true.
And though there won’t be horse drawn coaches
Our love for them will more than do.

And Shaina, I will bring my tissues
For the tears when you become his wife.
And I will pray that God will bless you
With joyful years and a love-filled life!

So may your Wedding Day be glorious
And let the bells ring loud and clear.
It is a time to all be joyous
And celebrate with heartfelt cheer!

But Shaina, when that day is over
And married life has made its start.
Be thankful Brandon is your lover
And keep him close within your heart.

For God has given you a treasure
Remember that when you may fight.
Be thankful for the times of pleasure
And always kiss your Prince good night!

With Love,
Caroline T. Smith

This is very sweet. of you.. I think the latter part of this (with a few adjustments) could be read at the wedding or made into a plaque and presented to the happy couple.....
