Crazy world we live in I say
Lately the things I see
Just do not sit with me
Sometimes it makes me cry
The headlines that meet my eye
I am ashamed to say
I almost want to turn away
It gets worse every year
The news I have to hear
But the story I read today
Left me with something to say
A story about a man and wife
Who said it was time to part in life
This is yours; that is mine
It is time we left this life behind
And all this stuff to divide
Is always hard to decide
This guy looked at his house on stilts
Cut it in half without any guilt
You may find this story strange
I admit I said the same
This man, you see, was so bitter
He turned his house into litter
Now I never claim to be a saint
But I would always rather walk away
When it comes to those times in life
The parting of man and wife
And all this stuff to divide
Is always hard to decide
Amidst all this heartache
All of our morals are at stake
I never understood why
That rule always seems to apply

Where there is emotion, there is love...
Buried away sometime and covered by other things....
When there is no emotion...positive or negative.....then be assured that there is no love....
Great job again,,,,
Not gonna cut any stuff in half no matter how bad it gets....
Ciao
Steve

I enjoyed reading this poem. Lite hearted and laced with morality. Great work.

Well, I definitely know what you mean about the freaking news. It is hard. And divorce....sucks big time. I hate to see couples break up. It's sad. You have conveyed that hurt and pain well here, Karabeara. Hmmmm.... not sure how many times I've seen you rhyme but you did that great too.

This also brought to mind my last marriage. The separation of property. Seems she was worried a lot about material items. She took the Jeep and hid it and her family threatened me if I went to find it. Funny, I'm the one that paid $25,000 cash for it. Whatever, I did not care about the Jeep or the house or any other material thing. I cared about her. I cared about my step-son and all the family I was loosing.

I eventually just gave up.... a beaten man.

Your poem is perfect at relating those thoughts of how life really sucks. Great job on a subject that is hard for me to bear and maybe many more of us have a hard time dealing too.

btw--- you're stronger than me, I DO turn away.

Loves ya,

Tim

Hmmmm I think the focus on dividing property is just a distraction so those involved don't have to think about the pain...not sure if that's a healing thing or not... :)

divorce is never a pretty thing, especially when greed is the focus,

Divorce, is such a terrible thing.
I would rather walk away and never
look back. People can get really greedy
and it can get pretty nasty. Life sux sometimes,
but what can one do? That's how the cookie
crumbles my friend.
A very well penned poem. Thanks for sharing it
with us dearest Kara~
love n hugs,
dreamer
