How long can one man survive in a world of vampires"
- Richard Matheson

These cloves around my neck have kept me save thus far.
I focus my eyes forward so memories can't leave scars.
They're feeding all around me. Leeches,
draining the life of surrounding people.
Like wild animals, cutting at each other's throats,
drinking as if contentness does not exist.
Bottomless pits of flesh, blood, lust and greed.
Keep looking forward, ignore this indulging breed and they will go away.
I wear this blank stare like a garlic necklace to keep these vampires at bay. Well, this does NOT sound like a cool place to hang out to me. It sounds like
my last place of work! (And I'm being SERIOUS) Horrendous and
torturous to the core. I love the metaphor you've used though. I wish
I'd thought of it. Corruption. What a nasty word. Is there no place that
is safe from it? Excellent thought provoking write, my friend. Looking
forward to Part II ..
