Why would you care what some person thinks, to do so shows them your armor's chinks
That pain in the limb that is no longer there, the body will mourn itself with great care
Layers of our souls are pulled away, like the skins of an onion around its cache
Our soul, our center we give to another, despite the intent, we often will smother
If its not this, then what you may find, you don't shed enough of that onion's hide
Perhaps its your soul that you wish to protect, treating your love with a certain suspect
In love and life there is always uncertainty, searching for love's vast harvested bounty
All we can do is all that we share, to always give love and to give our love care
Though the greatest is that which always is squandered, to never try again will give endless ponder
If its truly only your love that you seek, your happiness of life will eagerly bespeak [comments] => 7 [counter] => 244 [topic] => 22 [informant] => navydocny [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

I love you for this. You should have been a counselor or something. You know that? I don't know if you have been there and done that more thatn you let on or what--but you are just excellent at finding a way to say those words to help someone who hurts. you helped me a lot. To my knowledge you were never on my path.
this is wonderful
I pray your flame never dims
Kara

A wonderful exclamation of a philosophy we should all maintain. Seeking what we can't have makes our souls fake! The way you conveyed your thoughts is clear and poetic. I loved your words choices.

Yes indeed wanting what we can't have is a deep torture. Indeed those who seek love will speak more on life and hapiness and hope will echo. The fact is some people are obsessed with a challenge as if it is a drug. Some people do not seek peace, they seek drama. These people are not only making themselves slaves to an unhappy addiction but they are hurting those they surround themselves with. In that case, your friend (while hurt) is better off. If she seeks peace she will find it with another who seeks the same.

By the way I have not gotten a chance to say this to you but thank you for your service. My father was a Navy man for 23 years. My hat is off to you and my thoughts, prayers, and respect are with you.

BRAVO!

SCM

Steve, that last line is amazing. There is a profoundness in it that I cannot ignore.
It is one of the most beautiful and precious thoughts I've read in a long while. You
hold so much to heart and give of your soul without thought. There is a beauty
in this that will not be denied. Thank you for always sharing such wonderful
thoughts with us, your willing readers who devour them with great eagerness.

Well done, poet. Very well done indeed.
