Array ( [sid] => 145081 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Wake up! [time] => 2008-09-11 06:55:19 [hometext] => So this poem I wrote last year, and it is about how SOME Christians tend to shun people that are different. One person can make a difference, be that person. I am a Christian so if anyone wants to yell at meabout it...whatever. [bodytext] => Wake up!
Listen…
That sound is a million voices in unison,
Singing,
Believing,
Receiving,
His glory,
Love,
Blessing.
The song bounces from the walls,
Back,
Back,
Back,
To the ones among them who don’t know the tune,
They twiddle their thumbs,
And shift their weight.
They wonder why the others think God’s so great,
All their lives they were told,
Sin,
Sin,
Sin,
Sin grew on them like a mold,
Never accepted,
Always rejected,
The church’s doors close.
Judgment comes before the maker,
They now feel loathing and anger,
No love,
No comfort,
Nothing.
Diving head first into a bottomless pit,
Hate,
Self loathing,
Guilt,
Shame,
Their hearts bearing so much pain,
A single person grabs their hands,
Pulls them back from that hellish land,
A contagious smile starts around the room,
Joy,
Love,
A light to chase the gloom,
The voices stop.
The singing ceases,
The blessing,
The receiving,
All look…
The crowd parts,
Backing away from the unaccepted,
The rejected,
The outcasts,
The less holy,
But one stands among them,
Laying hands on them,
Helping,
Feeling,
Healing their broken hearts,
Helping mend their broken lives,
Reaching out to the ones the others think to be diseased,
Showing the love highlighted in the book that the other clutch with ease.
They watch,
Confused by the compassion shown,
Wondering how one of their own could help the others alone.
They scoff,
And sneer,
Guessing reasons why the sinners are here,
They turn their backs,
Look away,
If they ignore,
They’ll go away,
A voice starts up,
Singing his love,
The others ignore,
Eyes cast above,
The one and the sinners leave,
The song of his love growing dim and distant,
The others smile at that instant,
Voices rise,
But not blessed,
They praise,
Pray,
You know how it goes,
The church’s doors close.

I appreciate you for this. I attempted once to get this point across. "For All God's Children" is my title. Whether Christian, Catholic, or what, the hipocrasy contradicts the Bible. Amazing anyone has faith in anything. Anyway, even I admit I came across too angry. You wrote it MUCH more eloquently. Thank you

Hey, good work. It's a very true message, and you wrote it with a good pointedness and a nice flow. Keep spreadin' the Word, man.
