Navy blue socks,
Lay stretched on a green lawn
Underneath a sky of possibilities
Little sunlight shadows
Escape through overhead trees,
And on expectant faces
Soaking up their youthful ignorance
A kleidiscope of dreams
Sparkle in this sepia-coloured
Daydream of innocence
And lack of understanding
Of occurances,
And encounters
Passing cars,
Outside this building of conformity,
Are a disturbance to this May afternoon
A reminder of approaching freedom
And symbolic to the two seperate worlds
A bell rings in the distance
And navy blue socks arise
To dutifully file inside, from the sunlight,
Not theirs to enjoy yet
And it awakens me, too, from this daydream
A million miles away-
In person,
In mind frame
From the uniform,
The ideals,
The personality
Like Earth and Pluto -
Worlds apart
