Just as you were bringing change
You knew that “NOW” was the time
To “fix” things here, at the home-front, range

For reasons unknown, or weird, or strange
He decided you were his enemy
Maybe he did not like all this change
But that’s no reason to refuse to see

“America needs change FIRST, you see”
You said to all the reporters
“Peace and change on the home-front is key”
Agreed all of your young supporters

So many, were your fine supporters
Peace, Love, and Kindness all were needed in that day
You decided to take down all the hindering borders
And let the young people have their say

Many across the map liked your way
But someone didn’t really understand
Then, in an instant, he took it all away
And left us without your guiding hand

Why call you such names in what could’ve been a great land?
Why bother to shoot you AND your goals?
Why make it so we’re left in quicksand
Sinking lower and lower in our own deep holes?

When they took you away to patch up those souls
Your followers, how they cried and cried
Days later when they heard the bell tolls
They then knew that you had died

So why in the world could he not abide
By the laws of three times three?
What went around should have come around when you died
Back to him, your “unknown” enemy

Is it never enough to always be
At war with one another?
This world and our country still cannot see
The pain we cause each other

If only you had been someone else’s brother
The streak of bad luck would have ceased
You would have been above all the others
If only you’d not been taken by the Death Beast

If you had been chosen, oh yes, what a feast
There would have been in your time
But now you’re gone, and, to say the least,
It was, and still is, a heinous crime

You were cut down in your prime
Just as you knew change was needed
War, war, more war, and crime
Are there, and still, Peace and Love aren’t heeded

This poem is dedicated with much Peace and Love to Robert “Bobby” Kennedy and the whole Kennedy family for their hard and extensive political work to try and change our potentially great country.
It is also dedicated to the other victims from the night of the brutal murder; they were fond supporters of Bobby Kennedy and were also wounded by Sirhan Sirhan.
Also, here is to hoping that Sirhan Sirhan sees the error of his ways and for him to understand what a shame it is that he had to resort to such a crime. Here’s hoping that he can be forgiven by all who loved Kennedy and that he will know, from now on, that the notion that Peace, Love and change in this country is what will make the future of our planet Earth a brighter one; with the change and growth of the Universe, there should be change and growth among all beings that live in it.
This poem is also dedicated to everyone who has lost someone influential in their lives, and to all of the actors/actresses, musicians, and basic good people who were also prematurely silenced by the hand of Death, including, but not limited to:
John Lennon
Heath Ledger
George Carlin
Big Bopper
John F. Kennedy
George Harrison
Bernie Mac
Buddy Holly
John Denver
John Belushi
And any others that haven’t had the chance to show the world what more they were capable of…

Peace IN,
