Array ( [sid] => 144730 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Logic and love [time] => 2008-08-26 04:58:53 [hometext] => English is actually my second language so I apologize for any mistakes that I’ve made. This is about love and disappointment and it’s free style poetry, the first one I did. No rhymes or anything. Waiting for your comments obviously… [bodytext] => There is no such thing as love; love is something you do all by yourself.
It’s an illusion, a state of mind created by your egoistic needs.
Something you feel over an object you choose to have for yourself; a chosen object of desire.
If you can follow my thoughts I’m going to explain the process here.
First you just look at someone, watch them, analyze them.
You compare them to your standards, your taste in man or whatever.
That’s why looks are very important.
You watch how they behave around people, how they talk, sit or walk.
This is a test of appearance.
If he fits into your taste, you make him a candidate for your desire.
Then you pass on to the second stage, the test of life.
After deciding on a candidate, you start to gather information about his past,
His goal in life, his taste of humor,
How he enjoys himself or how successful he is in things he does.
You try to spend time with him to get to know him better,
Or you may do some research if you don’t have any chance to be with
Or just too shy to do so.
A little note here by the way,
People who fail in the first test may get reelected in this stage
If you get to know them accidently or by any reason.
After you reach the amount of info you need to come to a final decision,
You choose the candidate to be a desired object.
This is commitment you make with yourself to elevate this person to a level of great desire.
And now that the desired object is chosen, the third and final stage kicks in;
A stage of loss and need.
Just like knowing that you want something, seeing it in some shop’s shelf,
Desiring it, but not being able to buy it.
Now that you know you want to be with this guy,
You feel hurt and depressed without him.
The feelings of loss and need grow as long as you are away from him.
This state of mind is commonly called love, when the chosen object is a person.
That is why love never happens for those who just wait for it.
It is a product of effort and will.
Sometimes we all say love at first sight happens.
But that’s just the same process done with great speed.
You can see now that it’s just a logical thing.
It’s not like some baby angel just flies around shooting pink, heart tipped arrows at people.
It’s a sadistic game, something to feed our self-destructive drives.
You know that the only way to feel happiness is to feel loss first.
Only through sadness we reach happiness,
And only with sadness we are able to identify it.
Some times this need of sadness is so great
We willingly fall in love with people we just can’t get together with.
Sometimes desperation in itself becomes a desire.
And this unfulfilling desire puts us into a catharsis like state
In which we atone ourselves; a method of self-purification just like religious self-torture.
It’s because we all know the magnitude of our desires
Defines its happiness when it’s fulfilled.
So we just pick something up, get a good look at it
And if it really is something worth desiring we just throw it away,
To know how it feels like when we don’t possess it.
This is what makes us understand what they mean to us.
And the journey we take to acquire it will increase its significance.
So answer me now;
Which one of the tests I’ve failed?
What made you put me down?
What made me unfit to desire?
What was the missing piece?
I know I’m not gorgeous, but I’m an OK guy.
I’m a good mannered, completely unselfish, caring and giving person.
I’m fun to have around, and know when to get serious.
I’m smart and have an interesting occupation.
Who doesn’t like an artist anyway?
And I'm a great artist as well.
Is it my nose, my hair, my ***** taste in food?
Or is it the way I talk or move?
Why can’t you love me?
Why?

there's a lot of heart in this. i like the way u describe "love", but how can you ask "why can't you love me" when u clearly state that "there is no such thing as love." maybe i need to read this again to get into ur mind fully. but here's how i see it.

if u say theres no such thing, and that its just some elaborate process that people use to basically judge another persons desirability. well, how can u expect to be loved if u see it this way? love DOES come to those who wait. its those who go out looking for it that never find true love. maybe infatuation for another, or even true love for another, but it will be unrequitted because they are trying to make it happen when you can't. love just happens on its own. there are no stages. there is no one way to fall in love. that's why its called love. you can't look for it. you can only hope that it is looking for you.

anyway, i'm sorry. i dont mean to basically go against this entire piece. and i could be misunderstanding it all together in which case i apologize again. you see, i intended to comment you because i think this is a very clever way of looking at love, but i don't see it to be true is all i'm trying to say.
