Love and Friendship

Love and Friendship cannot spawn
Their dreadful hybrid.
Friendship has yielded many times
To Love's destructive bid,
And it has always been that
When Friendship would scoot
For Love's domineering seat,
Their compromise -- their fruit --
Is without mate.
Even Love finds in a foe
Mutual fire,
But Friendship is too sweet and slow
For a fervid plea --
Like an ensnared slave --
And Love may convey
The blood of this enclave,
But the child knows
Not the maiden name of Friendship --
Unless from Love's rash mouth,
The word does slip.

a lot of truth is spoken in the poem. Many times have my friendships been ruined by love. Written awesomely. Keep writing |
