Freefall from a darkening cloud
As they watch with steely eyes
While the sun sets and night becomes heaven’s shroud
Having no wings and tongues as sharp as knives
Piercing the mortal soul with their yells so shrill and loud
Resembling banshees rising from Hell but are angels cast from Heaven

Blending with the shadows of the night befalling
Awaiting the chance to claim the soul forlorn and alone
When they can take possession of their delicate prize
Never completely making their presence known
Swimming effortless in their ocean of deceit
Their hair flowing like rushing water yet their hearts are set in stone
In order to bring their victim along they will stop at nothing, the flight of the damned

Neither Heaven nor Hell, a world unto itself
Like a kaleidoscope of multi facets reflecting the many faces of the moon
Be leery of the dark for they stand there watching, those things that go bump in the night
Waiting disguised by the shadows, while the fearful pray that morning will be coming soon
Yet they promise better things, no more death, no more tears
As with a tender voice erasing all doubt as the weary soul begins to oppugn
For be afraid their lies fall like the raindrops during a summer storm

Flight of the Damned…
