The space you leave between us is often reluctant
and begging to be closed.

The flutter of your eyelids entices my hands toward you...
Inexplicably, I want you
closer.

The air sings, tempting us to dance
While the sun captures us in sepia tones. This twilight
brings solace to my worried heart.
But perhaps, in less romantic light,
You would cease to exist and we
Would simply dissipate.

Break away from your habits
because reserve is no longer en vogue
and you, little equivocator,
are a mess of raw emotion.

Tell me darling,
why is it that you are always so
afraid?
