can you love
can you love
can you love the beast?

Alone he creeps
Alone
Alone...
Alone he sleeps
Wanting not
Alone to be…
Alone to be.

Down the alley by
Alley by the brook
Dwindling down
Always down the broken street
Lays a heart
Like a kitten crying
Hugged in oily rags
Tossed and discarded.

By walks the city
Smacking, splashing
Footstep puddles
Bleeding in the eyes of the beast
Crying alone
Alone
Alone he sleeps
Crying can you love the beast
Can you love
Can you love the beast?

Different, yes...but in a good way...
I read this aloud ( I am no good at this) and it sounded good to me..so I could just imagine it being done by someone on a stage... Good piece..

Very well-executed, I like it. It's easy enough to use repetition in a poem, but difficult to make it work right. You managed to make it sound like your own, which is good.
