Lying here on a pillow of sand,
Away from the cares of this world.
Surrounded only by coconut palms,
And by the man who loves this old girl.

School's out for the Summer vacation,
I'm back on my favorite beach.
Dreaming in eager anticipation,
Of the ecstasy within my reach.

Lesson plans are forgotten for now,
Examinations are out of my mind.
There's no one to put a frown on my brow,
No daily registers to be signed.

Only my love accompanies me today,
The one who is closest to my heart.
The one with whom I will forever stay,
And from whom I'll never be apart.

So I'm lying here on my pillow of sand,
My thoughts sometimes running free.
It often drifts to another land,
To a friend across a distant sea!

But before long I'm reminded of home,
And the one who loves me the best.
And once more my mind ceases to roam,
As he lays his hands on my breast.

He joins me now on my bed of white sand,
And tenderly gives me a kiss.
Lying this way with my love close at hand,
Certainly feels like bliss.

Soon we make love by the light of the moon,
As we lay upon this pure white sand.
We lie here together all afternoon,
Ain't being in love just grand!!!

First of all I would like to say that I absolutely love the title of this piece. As soon as I saw it I immediately wanted to read your poem. However I believe that the title of this poem would have a much better impact if you didn't repeat the line in the body of your poem, repeating it just detracts from the power of the phrase.

I love the title! This poem makes me wish that my hubby and I were somewhere on a far away beach, away from the horrible economic situation in America, away from the tension over the coming election, and away from thoughts of war! Maybe if we all would lay our heads on a pillow of sand every once in a while, the world would not be in the condition it is today. Now...what beach was that?
