[bodytext] => Waiting out the storms That destroyed half the state And put a river in my backyard. Too much water everywhere, Then not enough, But now I’ve got some money in my pocket At the expense of my freedom and happiness. Just cause you’re responsible Doesn’t mean that anyone really cares. The junkies get all the good jobs now-a-days, But I get to contribute to suburbia. My parents are forces behind urban sprawl And I’m the slightly coerced accomplice. Three months of haze so thick you could cut it with a knife. Everything is gone, like Lake Delton and Cedar Rapids. The music is changing, the writing stopped and started again, The body is dying and sore while it worries about the next day. ______ two months left till Minneapolis, The shows and the friends are waiting for me, But some jackass might replace them with cardboard cutouts. Different place, nobody with a name, And at least one commuter home to finish. Beers and pipes lining the road. It washed out in the storms. I hope I remember how to swim.
