Monday 23rd June 2008

A US court has for the first time rejected the classification of a prisoner held in Guantanamo Bay as an 'enemy combatant'.

Huzaifa Parhat, a Chinese Muslim, has been held since he was captured in Afghanistan in 2001.

He is now free to seek immediate release in a US district court.

This follows a US Supreme Court ruling this month that gave foreign Guantanamo Bay detainees the right to challenge their detention in civilian courts.

O//

It’s a convenient title
‘Enemy Combatant’
It makes you tried and guilty,
right from the start

Whether true or not, it’s sloppy
and shows the hidden intent:
An administration avoiding justice,
it’s purely malevolent

And now again we see
How short sighted these incompetents were
Taking short-term decisions,
irrespective of how unfair

What was it the families of 9/11 cried out for?
Was it not justice they asked for?
I didn’t hear many calling for injustice
But for a better way they did implore

The Bush crew disrespected their wishes,
with so many ugly abuses
From Gitmo to Abu Ghraib
they're now left with no excuses.

Dear steeleyes

Your account was brought to my attention on June 6, 2012.

Except for your own poetry pages, I am quite appalled at your lack of interaction with our other members. When I saw that you had 574 postings. It appeared that you had left almost equal commenting, however, the majority was on your own poetry.

I have deleted 20 of your postings for various reasons:
Tricking the word filter (editing to get around banned words). So I WAS NOT going to take the time to re-edit these poems.
News articles where no poetry was contained at all. Put these in the forums. News articles are not to be posted in the poetry section of site.
More than one poem per posting. Again, I am not taking the time to edit out the additional poems.

To help keep the entire site interactive, you could have been leaving three comments on works by OTHER members for EVERY poem you posted. Your comments on other works could have numbered in the thousands!

Please do not comment on your own poems. You can send a private message if you wish to respond to someone.

EDIT REQUESTS SHOULD BE MADE IN THE EDIT / DELETE REQUESTS FORUMS. Rewrites DO NOT go on the comments screen.

The majority of the comments on your own works have been removed. Your page is now closer to a true indicator of how many comments you have made on works by other members, which is about 7. Two comments were left for documentation purposes.

Thank you, Moderator_18 June 7, 2012
