[time] => 2008-07-02 08:01:26 [hometext] => Yeah I wrote this a few weeks ago about how being in the Red Cross as a volunteer has helped me and how the help comes from both the organisation and the other volunteers. Comments appreciated. [bodytext] => I keep smiling myself to sleep.
Knowing you’ve helped me.
More than what you can ever realise.

And the thought of your compassion.
And your dedication.
Has inspired me to work harder.

So thank you!
For what you can’t realise you’ve helped me through.
So thank you!
For what you can’t realise you’ve helped me achieve.
Thank you for wanting to protect me,
When I’m working for you.
Thank you for helping me distract with your duties.
And by simply accepting me for me.
And not hating me for my scarred wrists or the problems I get at home.
Thank you for respecting me when I respect you,
And thank you for thanking me for doing my best.
You’ve raised my self-esteem more than what my words can ever express.
Thank you for wanting me with you.
When you could have pushed me away.
You could have HATED me in your own ways.
Yet you supported my existence.
And you praised all the help I gave.
When you could have HATED my pain inside.
And you could have used me with bitter hate.

I stopped crying myself to sleep when I joined you.
I stopped feeling suicidal too.
I stopped getting urges to cut my wrists deep.
And I stopped drinking myself to sleep.
I stopped feeling like I had nothing to give.
As you helped me discover my reasons to live.
I stopped crying an awful lot.
You made me realise I’m worth A LOT!.

So thank you for not hurting me.
And thank you for not shouting at me.
When I screw things up due to inexperience.
Thank you for not judging me or putting me down for my incompetence.
You’ve all lifted me high.
And grown me strong.
And you’ve shown me a place where I feel I belong!

Wow! This is so different to the poems I remember you writing! This is wonderful to read! I am happy inside even though you may not remember who I am, I've always remembered you and wondered how you are! This poem makes me so happy for you!
