Slow motion lifts –
The moment wavers
A soft ceramic cup
To her lipstick wet lips.
“More coffee?”
“Yes, uh…
Yes.”

Black passion eyes
With lonely lost reflections
Of a secret tale
Where…
Trusts have painted black
The red sands
Cut through with
Broken beer bottle glass
As childhood visions fade
Turning
Slowly painted black.

“My name?”
Rolls slowly from trembling lips
Then…
Glancing swiftly to the night,
“Does it matter?”
The lies have hidden
Slowly the closet where hides its shadow
Its myth
Written in spray-painted lives
Upon its walls.”

“No,
Time has melted
And lost me in the forges fires
Where now
Reality burns itself
In cigarette traces
Of paternal palm tree specters
On a choking past horizon.

She moves ghostlike from my heart
Like tears upon the wind sift
Sifting down upon the pavement
Drifting down the concrete rivers
Past broken, brown beer bottle glass
Cut into the darkness.

What I like most about this poem is its rare ability to express the overwhelming awareness of a moment.

Nice one.
